When we took over the brewery, Nicky was promised she could make a beer she'd like to drink (she doesn't like beer). We decided to use the IWCBD as an excuse to get going. It started with a recipe for a ginger and raspberry sour. Then on a new year trip to Alicante we discovered gose, a light- bodied wheat beer with a slight tang and a little coriander and salt in the mix.
The idea was for the boys of the family to teach the girls how to brew. We did a test brew, then a bigger brew and finally bottled our first batch of Stripple Stones, a light ginger gose.
What happened to the raspberry? We experimented with many combinations however Nicky just didn't like the raspberry in the mix, which we were all very surprised at. The gose base was also too good to drown out with so many other flavours, so we've kept it simple this time.
It's still a work in progress but for now with have a very drinkable beer (Nicky has now drunk 2 pints) all ready for our fundraising label making and beer tasting session on Sunday 29th March. All monies raised from this ticket only event will go to
